Hello there, guys!
Wonderful FuchsiaBud is thinking about starting pet drawing commissions, which would give profit to shelters and animal-helping organizations. To launch them, she needs two examples of these pet commissions, and that's why she's giving two FREE comms for anyone interested. Damn, I might even take one myself!

Here's the link to her journal: fuchsiabud.deviantart.com/jour…

If you're interested in what she can do, have some nice thumbs of her previous works.

So go on and take these free commissions and then take the paid ones so that she can help animals around her!

Yours truly,
Iao-Kamirru
I once came up with the idea of making monthly blog entry with ten animal rights quotes by famous people. Today, part one.

Legend:
Quote
~Author

The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but rather, "Can they suffer?"
~Jeremy Bentham

The squirrel that you kill in jest, dies in earnest.
~Henry David Thoreau

The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creatures that cannot.
~Mark Twain, What Is Man, 1906

As often as Herman had witnessed the slaughter of animals and fish, he always had the same thought:  in their behaviour toward creatures, all men were Nazis.  The smugness with which man could do with other species as he pleased exemplified the most extreme racist theories, the principle that might is right.
~Isaac Bashevis Singer

Life is life - whether in a cat, or dog or man.  There is no difference there between a cat or a man.  The idea of difference is a human conception for man's own advantage.
~Sri Aurobindo

Those who wish to pet and baby wild animals "love" them.  But those who respect their natures and wish to let them live normal lives, love them more.
~Edwin Way Teale, Circle of the Seasons, 1953

Heaven is by favor; if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out.  Of all the creatures ever made [man] is the most detestable.  Of the entire brood, he is the only one... that possesses malice.  He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain.
~Mark Twain

I believe in animal rights, and high among them is the right to the gentle stroke of a human hand.
~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as valuable to the child as it is to the caterpillar.
~Bradley Millar

People must have renounced, it seems to me, all natural intelligence to dare to advance that animals are but animated machines.... It appears to me, besides, that [such people] can never have observed with attention the character of animals, not to have distinguished among them the different voices of need, of suffering, of joy, of pain, of love, of anger, and of all their affections.  It would be very strange that they should express so well what they could not feel.
~Voltaire, Traité sur la tolerance
Huge thanks to :icontifa22: Tifa22 for making the icon for the group! Especially that no one asked her <33

From other news, I'm trying to work on new blog entries, featuring--among other things--some interesting animal-related quotes and a list of animal-welfare petitions to sign. Stay tuned!
What is ProtectAnimalWelfare about?
:bulletblue: ProtectAnimalWelfare or PAW is a group founded to help animals, educate people about their rights and collect animal-related art.
:bulletblue: We accept all art where the subject involves animals, as long as it's natural and realistic. We won't accept any deviations that don't fit our aim, for example anthros.

How do I join?
:bulletblue: Simply click the "Join Our Group" button at the top of the home page. All member request are accepted automatically, so don't bother to write something.

How do I submit art?
:bulletblue: You have to go to our gallery tab on the top of the page and then click "Submit to this gallery". This will open the pop-up window, where you can choose deviations you want to submit. At the right top of that window you should see a drop-down menu where you should choose right folder for your deviation.
:bulletblue: You can also click the "+" button next to the gallery folder title to submit art to this folder.
:bulletblue: There is also the "Feature Me Please!" folder, where you can submit up to two of your greatest deviations per month. Every month The Great Founder will choose a few of deviations from that folder and feature them in the group journal.

What art do you accept to the group's favorites?
:bulletblue: We accept art that not only meets our aim and policies, but also which authors don't want to become a member of the group (we send invites, when someone's work is suggested as favorite).
:bulletblue: Please don't suggest your own deviation to favorites, if you are the member of our group! If you suggest your own work, it is a message for us, Admins, that you don't want to be part of it.

My submission was declined! Why? And what can I do?
:bulletblue: It's probably because we didn't think it meets our rules. You can ask us for the reason in the comments under the submission request.
:bulletblue: We reply for every message we get, so don't worry you'll be ignored! We'll write you what we think - and if you convince us otherwise, we'll ask you to submit your deviation again! ^^
:bulletblue: Remember to write your message politely - we won't respect insults or shouting.
:bulletblue: It also could be because your deviation was submitted into the wrong folder. We'll probably send you a message, which folder we think you should submit it to - just do it again, to the right folder.
:bulletblue: If you've accidentally submitted your work in the wrong folder, note us immediately! If you're quick enough, your work will be accepted and put into the right folder manually by one of the Admins.

What is the 'Feature Me Please' folder?
:bulletblue: Every month the Founder will choose three of the best deviations from this folder and feature them in a journal. She'll also move them to the 'Featured' folder, so that they can be seen on our main page!
:bulletblue: After that, all the other deviations will be moved to appropriate folders and the Founder will be waiting for another set of your deviations to choose from.

What is the 'Anatomy Feedback Please' folder?
:bulletblue: The Founder has a great knowledge of animal anatomy, given her veterinary medicine studies.
:bulletblue: If you're not sure whether your animal or fantastical creature is anatomically correct, you can add your deviation here and the Founder will comment on it, telling you what (if anything) is wrong with it and how to fix it.

I would like to be a contributor, is it possible?
:bulletblue: It's great, we're looking for help! If you want to become a contributor, please send us a note titled: "Contributor Request". Write why do you want to become a contributor and what are you willing to do in our group (e.g. correction, gallery supervising, something else?). We'll probably ask you some additional questions to know you better and then decide to invite you to the contributors.

And if I wanted to become a Co-Founder?
:bulletblue: Oh, it's a much harder work. Co-Founders have additional benefits (e.g. their works are automatically put into the "Featured" folder), but also much more work. If you want to become a Co-Founder, you'll have to show us your effort - be active, submit art, suggest your ideas how to improve our group. When we see your dedication, we'll invite you for sure!
:bulletblue: Note: Contributors have more chances to become Co-Founders.

I'd love to affiliate, how can I do this?
:bulletblue: Just send us your request, and it'll probably be accepted quickly.

How do I note the group?
At the top of every page somewhere there should be a button "Send a Note". Just click it and write your message.

If you have any more questions, concerns or ideas how to improve our group, please feel free to note us!
